A Hurricane of Fraud?

Via A hurricane of fraud? - Los Angeles Times:

FEMA did mismanage Katrina relief, but it’s wrong to blame victims for spending irresponsibly.

That’s right - blame the victim. The federal government is defrauded out of hundreds of millions of dollars and who do we blame? The federal government. The lack of oversight and accounting on Uncle Sam’s part is certainly appalling, but give me a break. If a bank decides not to put a full time security guard at the ready and that bank is subsequently robbed, do we then blame the bank’s owner? Maybe in the liberal utopia that the L.A. Times envisions where the only criminals are the victims.

Natalie Maines is an Idiot

Via Telegraph.co.uk:

“The entire country may disagree with me, but I don’t understand the necessity for patriotism,” Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. “Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don’t see why people care about patriotism.”

This is so ludicrously stupid that it requires no comment. I’ll let the sheer idiocy of her statement stand on its own.

ICE Arrests About 2,000 Illegal Immigrants

In a blitz that began May 26, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested nearly 2,100 illegal immigrants across the country. Officials said the raids are aimed at child molesters, gang members and other violent criminals, as well as people like Da Silva who sneaked back into the country after a judge threw them out.

2,100, huh? Well I guess we have to start somewhere. But this is the real kicker:

The crackdown is called Operation Return to Sender.

Brilliant!

Via The Grouchy Old Cripple:

About 5,000 years ago Moses said, “Pick up your shovel, pack your ass, mount your camel, and I shall lead you to the Promised Land.”

About 200 years ago, George Washington said, “Get off your ass, use your shovel, clear the land, grow plants for camels and it will be the promised land.”

About a week ago, the Congress of the United States said “Si, Amigos, throw away your shovel, sit on your ass, light your Camels. We’re giving you the promised land.”

Quite apt for the moment, wouldn’t you say?

Democrats Call Zarqawi Killing a Stunt

Democrats call Zarqawi killing a stunt

Some Democrats, breaking ranks from their leadership, today said the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi in Iraq was a stunt to divert attention from an unpopular and hopeless war.

“This is just to cover Bush’s [rear] so he doesn’t have to answer” for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers, said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. “Iraq is still a mess — get out.”

I see. So if Bush can’t catch the bad guys (i.e. Osama Bin Laden, a.k.a. His Mama Bin Layin’), he’s incompetent. When he does catch the bad guys, he’s a coniving genius, hell-bent on political diversion.

Native Martian and former [insert uncontrollable chuckle here] Democrat presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich, had this to add:

Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat, said Zarqawi was a small part of “a growing anti-American insurgency” and that it’s time to get out.

“We’re there for all the wrong reasons,” Mr. Kucinich said.

He also added, “Nanoo nanoo.” and concluded with a showing of the Vulcan sign for long life and prosperity.

Seriously, we can only hope that the Democrats continue to downplay our few military victories in the Middle East. It only makes the right look that much stronger on terrorism. Which of course, they are.
