Macy’s Gay Parade (of Non-News)

Via BostonHerald.com:
Macy’s department store found itself mired in a fierce national debate between conservatives and gay activists when it bowed to complaints and removed part of a window display marking Boston Pride Week.
The Downtown Crossing store display featured two male mannequins - one wearing a gay pride rainbow flag around its waist - standing near a list of several planned Boston Pride events.
The display was designed by Macy’s with the approval of the Boston Pride Committee.
But the store yanked the mannequins from the window after MassResistance, the conservative group formerly named Article 8 Alliance which has also campaigned against sex education and gay-themed books in public schools, complained the display was offensive.
This will no doubt be directly correlated to the popular anti-gay marriage movement. The establishment media and left-wing pundits within the blogosphere will point to this instance and say, “See - these right wing bigots can’t even stand gay mannequins. That’s how homophobic they are.”
It’s no different than the media-muddled debate over illegal immigration. The debate is not about immigration. It’s about illegal immigration.
The debate over same sex marriage is not about hating gays or about being anti-gay. This is an important distinction that the media certainly understands. They’re just thinking and hoping that we’re too stupid not to understand it. It’s about not wanting to redefine marriage to be whatever Joe or Tom or Suzie want it to be. I’ve yet to hear an argument that can successfully answer this question: “If you allow gay marriage, how do you disallow bigamy? Or incestual marriage? Or bestial marriage? What if I want to marry my llama?” Sound ridiculous? Well if we’re redefining marriage to be whatever anyone wants it to be, then why is marrying your pet so far-fetched? The reason I haven’t heard that argument is because there isn’t one. You can’t tell Tom he can marry Steve and in the same breath tell Sally she can’t marry Fido.
It’s not anti-gay. It’s anti-gay marriage. Get it?

Dear Jay-
Quite simply put you are a toilet that refuses to flush.
I will not rest until you are off the air in in Washington D.C.
WJFK will be hearing from my organization.
And you’re an ugly son of a mother dog.
Yours
Dr. Mark Williams
Thank you, Dr. Mark, for your opening to an insightful and rational discourse. Please stop by again.
Have you anything to say relevant to the topic at hand?
Or is it your standard M.O. to resort to juvenile name-calling and bathroom insults?
Jay,
You lost your job for a brief period of time. Your phone line was filled with filth frm people I’ve never offended in my life. I took issue. Once I found out that you lost your job, I sent out a personal appeal to get on the radio. I’m sorry that you lost your cushioned spot, and I’m glad to see that you have risen back near the top.
I’m utterly dissapointed that you chose to air discussion about the naked video and pictures, which were illegally taken of me.
Do not discuss me in your program. I’m not stupid, gay, or any other of yours and your callers’ epithaphs. I have multiple degrees, and I am persisting on educating myself further by obtaining a JD at night.
Kristen did illegal things with a tape recorder. Kristen also was responsible for making me believe that I had anything to do with her and her family. She coerced me.
I’ve moved on. I didn’t want the lousy million. I can make more on my own.
Some of your listeners called me stupid. Let them match me. How about if they experience a tightly controlled government experiment, like the one done on me; let’s see how well they make out.
I guess a little gay bashing makes you feel superior. Funny, I hear about how all these Republican scum are all juiced up on good old religion. It seems the only time you hear from Xtians is when they are complaining about how people are measurinig up to their puritan sexual standards. Guess what, our founding fathers were not like the fascist theocons like you or the average Republican.
