Thomson: Gays Need Not Apply

Tommy Thomson laid it out pretty clearly in last night’s debate: employers have the absolute right not to hire gays if they so choose.
Via CNN.com:
Thompson was asked by the moderator: “If a private employer finds homosexuality immoral, should he be allowed to fire a gay worker?”
The former Wisconsin governor answered: “I think that is left up to the individual business. I really sincerely believe that that is an issue that business people have got to make their own determination as to whether or not they should be.” The moderator appeared a bit startled: “OK, so the answer is yes?” Thompson replied, “Yes.”
Nothing chaps the collective ass of the left more than absolute freedom of choice. For them, it’s incumbent upon every employer to hire anyone the government mandates that they hire and pay them whatever same government mandates that they be paid. This is crap. Employees have the freedom to work wherever they like for whomever they like. So too do employers have the right to hire and fire anyone for any reason. Were I so inclined to hire only black quadriplegic lesbians named Crystal, that’s my absolute right. It’s my business and my choice. The government - and the left in this case - can screw.
Thomson must have felt the pressure for his “surprising” answer, because he predictably went on to apologize:
Thompson told “American Morning” that he “misinterpreted” the question and should have asked to have it repeated.
“That’s never been my position,” Thompson said, said adding that discrimination isn’t acceptable.
What crap. Have a sack for god’s sake and stand up for what you believe in.
